Searched but couldnt find any decent answers .
About a week ago i changed my cars power steering fluid and did an oil/filter change. All was fine for about a week.
Drove it to work yesterday was fine parked came back after 5 hours and upon starting the engine there is a whining sound (not alternator belt) it gets louder as you apply gas.
Another issue is during the first minute of driving when braking the revs drop right down and the battery light comes on but then hit the gas and its fine again. And worst of all there is a distinct burning smell like burning plastic... u can smell it outside the car and in the engine bay seems to be coming from the alternator.
am thinking the alternator has had it but i cant imagine why
