Heaters not blowing hot air

  1. #1
At work at the mo but my wife is out in her car(99 Saxo) and has told me that although the fans are working OK through the various speeds there is no hot air being generated into the cabin?

Can anyone please point me in the direction of where I can start looking for a cause when I get home, please!

I'm thinking thermostat at this stage?

    Cheers as usual

air lock in the coolant system for the heater circuit?

I'll put money on it being an air lock. That or the thermostat is stuck open, but even then it would heat up eventually.

Oddly enough I did a coolant change last week so you could be on the money.

Going the bleed route first I think then change the stat -if that hasn't cured it I'll report back for some more advice!

Just get the system flushed trough...

obviously that wasnt aimed at you Adam

Having the system flushed won't do anything. The air needs to escape using the bleeding points. Don't think there's an issue with liquid flow.

    LOL yep.

If it makes a difference the front rad fan comes on so no overheating.

Also -quick rant-why the heck didn't Citroen put a temp guage in as standard across all models?

    Cheers guys

Looks like I wont get a chance today to investigate -would it be safe to drive the car for a while assuming it is the heater matrix or its pipes?

Bit worried about frying the head if its not circulating water properly?

    Cheers for all the help

i'd say it is, just keep an eye on the temperature and listen for the fan kicking in. If temp goes up or it starts to steam even slightly i'd leave it be. Otherwise i wouldnt worry if water is circulating through the rad
