How does an alloy wheel hold up against heat?

    Hi guys.

It's not really a problem, more of a concern.

Had a small fire in the garage earlier and a vtr alloy and tyre sat above some rather large flames caused by petrol for around 20-30 seconds.

So I'm wondering, will the wheel still be ok for use on the car? Or will it now be fubar and fit for the bin?

Id say the wheel its self should be fine. Best off getting a new or part worn tyre though

and how would you tell with pictures?

I can't imagine the heat would be that high and it was only subjected to it for 30seconds so the wheel should be fine.

    I'd change the tyre though

the wheel will be fine for that amount of time in the flames would have to be an intense heat for longer to wharp the wheel or melt it hope this helps , but as above i wouldnt trust the tyre .

have a look at the tyre.

my guess would be that the tyre is fine.

tyres get pretty hot when abused on the track so im sure 20 seconds over a flame wouldnt have affected it in anyway what so ever.

as above, wheel should be fine, alloys are pretty tough, but for piece of mind a new/another tyre will be better (as stated)
