alarm sensitivity on 106 gti

  1. #1
pretty much as title says, is there a way on this car that i can turn down the sensitivity?

the damn thing goes off randomly, could be 3 times a day and at various times, like at 5am
felt like going out kicking the living sh*t out of it.

sometimes it wont go off for a week or so, then will start having hissy fits.

any idea what is wrong, HELP ASAP will be very much appreciated

    thanks guys,

    Danny

id like to know aswell, have the same problem with the VTS, goes off randomly for no reason. Theres a button on the dash i think has to do with the sensitivity but how do you know if your turning it down or up??

My alarm is really sensitive as well. Almost feels as if a hamster blowing through a straw sets it off. I am not sure if mine is an aftermarket one though. I have a button on the right hand side of my steering colomn but not tried it yet

Is why 99.9% of people cut the alarm's out could be a bad earth though...

IIRC they have issues with the intrusion sensors inside the car. Not sure if they can be turned off though

if i hold in the button on mine when i turn off the ignition the red alarm light on the dash will come on after about 2 secionds and then go off when i release it, but thats all it does!!

Open the drivers door then hold it down for 4-5 seconds, release your finger, get out the car shut the door then lock with the keyfob. Works 100% all the time for me

Check the bonnet sensor is not loose, it should be pushed in, it's under the bonnet catch, mine kept going off all the time all because of the stupid bonnet sensor.
