Temperature Warning Light?

   Hello.
   
   Please can some one give advice with regards to why a red light has suddenly come on the dash board?. Is this the temperature warning light? not quite sure? does the thermostat need replacing?
   However,it came on 30 mins after coming back from shopping.

   Could be thermostat or a air lock, worse case headgasket.

   I forgot to say what model we have,its a 1.1 sx.
   
   Are the thermostats easy to change? sorry for sounding dim lol
   
   We have just bought the car and it previously belonged to owners who only used the car to learn to drive in..its a good runner and this light has only just come since...

   sure its the thermostat light? the one on the thermostat yes?
   and if so, yeah as above check thermostat or bleed the system

   Get a pic up of the light then the more clever people on here could probably tell you what it is exactly

   I had the overheating light on my car. Turns out the thermostat was fooked. ( i did panic tbf consider i owned the car 5 mins)
   
   Id change it and stick fresh coolant etc in. Check the oil cap for mayo stuff or take the rocker cover off for a better look.

   Check your coolant level 1st then bleed the system mate.

    the red light comes on on mine even before its been started up in a morning, this normal? not sure if its been doing it all time or just started, no head gasket issues though

    my mate had the same problem on his furio, he bled the system and it worked.

    does the fan come on? if not check power to the fan(check fuse for the fan)if there all ok is the top hose warming up? if it isnt is the thermostat hot? if the stat is hot and the top hose is cold its the stat.
