how easy/hard to change track rod ends

    hi


    as the title suggests, still overhauling my motor,
    had new ball joints, wishbones, just done droplinks now for the above but wanna know if should really go to a mech or if i can do on my drive,

    Yeah easy enough to do make, just depends if they are seized or not really, undo the bolt thats in the steering rack, then just 2 spanners of a job loosen the nut, unscrew track rod end (leave the nut where it is) screw new one on and tighten up again. Will probs then need the tracking doing depending on if you've messed with the locking nut much

    Won't need to do the tracking if you count how many turns it is to take them off then when putting the new ones on wind them in the same amount

    get your tracking done after. i can almost guarantee it's be out. I measured, marked and counted turns and mine was still way out.

    check the rubbers for perishing. tyres may show uneven wear, tricky handling, excessive understeer/oversteer are signs, may tighten the front end up a little if they are worn so can be worthwhile.
