Okay so to cut a long story short im now the proud owner of a 1.0i saxo 1999, i purchased earlier in the week and on the drive home i noticed a wheel bearing gone my mechanic later pin pointed this to the front left wheel. He told me theyre easy enuf to change if ur enthusiastic so i had a go last night got the old bearing out but it was gone totally and left the outter race stuck in hub how can i get this out anybody?? Thanks

they are a total bastard if you don't have a press (which is how they are supposed to be removed) but when i did mine i managed to wedge a round piece of tube inside the outer race on the lip in the middle and bashed it out with a hammer. it takes a hell of alot of hitting out with a hammer so if you don't have time to mess with it i'd advise taking it to a garage to get it pressed out and a new bearing pressed in. if you have access to a blowtorch or whatever to heat the strut with that would help too

    rite bastard without a press!

i use a LARGE socket .. but still use the press at work to get them out. However a LARGE hammer may have the same effect lol

get a socket the correct size and try and heat up around the race. once its red hot. give the socket a good bash.

i belive the expansion temp of the hub will be lower than the bearing race so it should come out that way.

why didn't you just take it to a garage and pay them a tenner and they's have pressed it out and pressed a new one back in.
