clutch

   i hear a very faint squeak when engaging the clutch. Is this the clutch release bearing? And if so, how many miles can i get out of it before the clutch gives up? Thanks in advance

   When mine went it was with more or less no warning, the plastic bit actually melted and therefore couldnt push the clutch in or out I can't remmeber which. I'd just done a 30 mile trip dropping a work mate off and as I went to pull off it just went, so i'd say anytime really.

   I know it sounds silly, but are you sure its not the clutch pedal when your lifting off it? Mine squeaks regularly.

   if its the clutch release bearing, you will hear it whine when driving, soon as you push clutch down it goes.

   i do occasionally hear it squeak when driving, although not constant. and there is a slight squeak from the clutch pedal, but its a different one (sounds silly i know) and is definately coming from the engine compartment, as it is louder when i have the window open and listen for it. its only audible with the radio off and no loud noises so should i just not worry for now? it doesnt seem to affect the performance of the clutch at all, bite point remains unchainged and the pedal still feels good

   Strange noises coming from the engine bay is a common thing, most of the time its nothing to worry about. Could be your drivebelt. My power steering pump whines on a regular basis too. Cant think of many other things engine related that would squeal.

   lol dude i bought my car on thursday of last week and so far the washer pump has gone the aerial has been snapped off the abs pump has gone and ive managed to snap a engine mount! definately a case of SNAP OFF because its french

    french cars are pretty bad made yeah, especially on the electrical side :L only reason i have a saxo is cos i was bought one for my 17th, couldnt exactly say its shit
