My Citreon Saxo Vts has gave out on me up until now I was getting a high pitch screech or sqweek kind of noise, all the time I was pressing down on the clutch to change gear, now however this evening the clutch pedal is pressed down and won't come back up, I have been informed that its the clutch bearing how ever is this a big job and how much should I expect to pay?

#2£70-£80 for a valeo clutch kit then labour charges on top to fit it for you, unless you do it yourself1 user thanked this post:

#4it's not a hard job if you know what you're doing.
wheel and driveshaft have to come off too.
either buy an haynes manual or take it to a garage.1 user thanked this post: -
#5Won't the pedal come back up at all? Is there any feel in the pedal at all? Are you sure you've checked your cable?1 user thanked this post:

#6It's the release bearing was seizing up, hence the noise. It's now disintirgated and is wrapped around the release fork and jamming it up. It will look a bit of a mess in there now but should still just need a clutch kit fitting. This means gearbox out which will be a pretty expensive job from a garage. If you choose to do it yourself make sure the engine is supported on a jack while the box is out as the drivers side mount can often fail leaving the engine on the floor.

#7The pedal started springing back when I left the engine running but when I press the pedal it sticks, I will check the cable today in the light thanks mate.

#8How much do you roughly think it would cost?Quote:It's the release bearing was seizing up, hence the noise. It's now disintirgated and is wrapped around the release fork and jamming it up. #10Lol I know the feeling just can't find the time, another quick Question how do I know if the drive shafts are on their way out?
-
#11other than the boot gaitors being split and having no grease, i have no idea.

#12Don't want to sound rude or any thing but if you don't know if your shafts are on there way out i would not attempt a clutch/gearbox job
