help clutch wont depress

My Citreon Saxo Vts has gave out on me up until now I was getting a high pitch screech or sqweek kind of noise, all the time I was pressing down on the clutch to change gear, now however this evening the clutch pedal is pressed down and won't come back up, I have been informed that its the clutch bearing how ever is this a big job and how much should I expect to pay?

£70-£80 for a valeo clutch kit then labour charges on top to fit it for you, unless you do it yourself

it's not a hard job if you know what you're doing.

wheel and driveshaft have to come off too.

either buy an haynes manual or take it to a garage.

Won't the pedal come back up at all? Is there any feel in the pedal at all? Are you sure you've checked your cable?

It's the release bearing was seizing up, hence the noise. It's now disintirgated and is wrapped around the release fork and jamming it up. It will look a bit of a mess in there now but should still just need a clutch kit fitting. This means gearbox out which will be a pretty expensive job from a garage. If you choose to do it yourself make sure the engine is supported on a jack while the box is out as the drivers side mount can often fail leaving the engine on the floor.

The pedal started springing back when I left the engine running but when I press the pedal it sticks, I will check the cable today in the light thanks mate.

Lol I know the feeling just can't find the time, another quick Question how do I know if the drive shafts are on their way out?

other than the boot gaitors being split and having no grease, i have no idea.

Don't want to sound rude or any thing but if you don't know if your shafts are on there way out i would not attempt a clutch/gearbox job
