removed rocker cover and now it wont start, i never removed coil pack or that, just two screws and oil breather thing, and airbox, managed to squeeze it out, was also undoing the bolts on the manifold and forgot about the ones on the bottom so just put them back on. is really annoying, it turns over no problems but just wont start. any suggestions?
car wont start!!!!!!

#2anyone?
-
#3because i didnt move the coilpack, do you think i couldve misplaced it or done something to annoy it
-
#4Check you haven`t knocked a wire/sensor off somewhere.
-
#5good shout chief, most likely coil pack im assuming? as realistically there isnt anything in the area of rocker cover that could effect the running of the engine. or is there?
it was working one minute then took it off, then back on, and wouldnt start so hope its simple :Y: -
#6Bit of a long shot, but you haven't knocked the fuel cut off switch whilst inside the engine bay have you?
-
#7iv pressed it a few times to see but it wont depress or press down, if you know what i mean, like i thought it was a button but when i press it it doesnt go down at all, iv tried when then car wouldnt start then pressed it again, but still no potato?
-
#8Is it pointing fully upwards? If not it won't work
-
#9yeh mate it is. fucking annoying because don't know what i couldve done
-
#10It is annoying mate, one day I spent £30 in taxis to get to work and back when my car wouldnt start, to find out it was the fuel cut off
Im fairly sure by what u are saying, it's the fuelling at fault, is the fuel pump priming when u start it? If not, then you might of knocked a sensor to the pump -
#11it doesnt sound any different from when iv tried to start it before mate, where is the pump anyway? does the fuel cut off look any different when its triggered?
-
#12You got the HT leads on the correct firing order?
-
#13are you getting a spark?
-
#15The fuel cut off switch looks the same when on as when it's off, it's just sometimes knocked easily when relocated. Also, are they're any warning lights when starting?
-
#16engine management and battery plus brake?Quote:The fuel cut off switch looks the same when on as when it's off, it's just sometimes knocked easily when relocated. Also, are they're any warning lights when starting?
eml is always on tho
EDIT: eml is always on startup i mean -
#17Sorry mate, thought it might have been a 16v. Did you remove any multiplugs when you removed the cover?
-
#18rocker cover, breather hose, and was unscrewing manifold bolts cuz car is loud but forgot there was 4 underneath so just put them back on again. fair dos i did take one of the bolts that holds the coil pack, and tried to push it and see if it would move, but it wouldnt so just put the bolt back
-
#19did you disturb the injector harness while working on the manifold?
-
#21Will the car bump start at all, and have you checked all of your fuses?
-
#22good shout iv not checked fuses, car was on driveway so not had a chance to bumpstart it, earlier on tho wen i was turning the car overit i quickly put it in gear and got clutch to biting point and the car would move, but dont think this is good for the car
-
#23The injectors each have a multiplug attached to them. It looks like a long plastic rail with 4 multiplugs on it, one for each injector, per cylinder, should be connected to the inlet manifold just behind and below the rocker cover!
-
#24again though i dont think removing the rocker cover could have affected this, it could be the mother fucker of all luck, or unluck, but i doubt it. how is the coilpack connected to the engine, is it screwed on? im trying to think of anything i could have knocked or forgot to put back in, the cover was a bastard to put back in kuz of the two bung things inside the actual cover that had to line up with the holes, and the seal kept coming off at the back where the coil pack is.
-
#25Not trying to call you thick or anything but have you plugged the coil pack back in as in the grey connector
-
#27take the plugs out, connect to them to the coil pack whilst its removed from the engine but plugged in. Then rest them on the rocker cover or something metal thats grounded and then crank it over - it'll sound strange as its got no compression with the plugs out but you'll soon see if they are sparking
-
#28Its on top of the coil pack you have to take it off to get the rocker off m8 and I forgot to put mine back on it was like yours it would turn over but not start
-
#29there was just the oil breather thing over my rocker cover, i managed to wiggle the cover out without removing the coilpack, the wire goes from the airbox , to the oil breather, then away towards the ecu (behind it)????
-
#30Does the fuel pump prime?
-
#31What did you remove the cover for?
-
#32take your fuel pipe off the inlet manifold turn car over it should pump out fuel then you will no if your getting fuel or not .
-
#33This is the plug I am on about it plugs into the coil pack
-
#34beleive it or not but my dads mate works for AA, he came around and noticed that the plug had snapped off the coilpack, the exact on on the picture, i cant mentally comprehend how this happened as i was nowhere near touching that. so im taking its a new coilpack then?
-
#35can i use a coilpack from vtr, or does it have to be a furio one?
-
#36if it has a grey plug like yours yeah its fine to use
-
#37if its the coil pack end then just a new coil packbut if its the plug end then GOD NO'SQuote:beleive it or not but my dads mate works for AA, he came around and noticed that the plug had snapped off the coilpack, the exact on on the picture, i cant mentally comprehend how this happened as i was nowhere near touching that. so im taking its a new coilpack then?
sorry
and i have a vtrand my coil pack is from the vts -
#38mines had black plug, got one anyway, PBT-GF30 was what was on a grey plug one a 02 plate vtr, i got a black plug one still PBT-GF30 from a V reg vtr, was piss easy job, thought it would be more technical,
legends you all are
