  1. #1
Original post : Am i likely to encounter any issues with 185 60 14 on my mk2 Desire? All standard ride height atm
    Wheels are 205 gti 1.6

EDIT: please scroll down have decided to try the 1.9 speedlines

Update 2 15/03/2012 : Have checked tyres from 205 almost brand new and 185 55 15 so was going to try these depending on whats involved.....

Wrong tyre alltogether and a 60 aspect ratio will scrub like mad also its a 15" rim not a 14".

Just go to the tyre shop and say you need 195/45/15 x 4. That is all.

    This ^^
But at standard height a 195/50/15 will work and they are cheaper.
    Personally prefer 45s tho

At standard height yes, but once there's a few people in the back it will scrub the arches. I'd stick to 45's lower profile and look way better then chunky 50's.

Have got some 15 " 1.9s as well will have to check the tyre size I in no rush to put them on got 4 brand new ditchfinders came with the car.

I got a feeling they are 55 profile ( the 1.9s ) if i get the arches rolled am I good to go or will there be more messing about ?

    Will probably try the 1.9 Gti alloys, that being the case ;

Can i put on 195/45/15? And it wont rub at all on the back and front will be fine as well? even on full lock and with people in the back?
    No modifications needed?

    should be fine

195/45/15 tyres with the 1.9speedline offset will rub on the rear of the car when you get people in the back. You need to remove the inner lip from the arch. its been coverd before so a search should bring up a thread telling you more detail.

The inner lip from the arch is this the grinding / rolling of the metal arches that has been mentioned or something else?

That's what we did to the gf's flatarch

Was ok lowered 30mm with vtr alloys,
but rubbed with anyone in the back on 15's

If i cut the arches will the above 195/50/15 work without issue ?

Re: front will the 195s rub on full lock?

    185 55 15?
  18. #18
185/55 and 195/50 will both rub on lock

plus they may catch the rear bumper and bumper bracket
the bracket is like a knife to tyres
on a flat arch 45s is the max without going nuts

i had 195/40/16s on a lowered flatarch it took tons of work
