Faulkner springs failure

    Got 180 lbs/-3.5cm faulkner springs fitted last summer and now one of them seems to be broken (didn't manage to lift the car to inspect everything thoroughly) but it seems like a broken coil spring

    is this a common problem?

    should I just reorder new ones or look for something else?

    Not heard of it before, I would just re-order new ones. Let them know why you are ordering new ones and they may make them for free.

    The finish they come from the factory with isn't very hard wearing imo, especially considering what they cost. My old set were mega rusty after a couple of years on the car, so I gave my new set an extra couple of coats of paint before I fitted them.

    phone them up, tell them whats happened and you may get a free one or you should beable to order just one. Ive had good service in the past from them.

    an update:

    strange but the spring is ok, both are seated ok, with very little play
    but the right side of the car seats a little lower - could there be any problem with a strut?

    PS I suppose that initially the coil could have moved from its position in the strut wich dropped the car and made the wheel rub the arch and then it put in place...
    but why is it lower then the other one?

    no noises at all (only when the tire rubbed, but its gone)
    dampers are almost new gr.N Billis - no sighs of leak, damping works fine...

    that is really strange =(

    twisted spring, top cups etc all together correctly, bearings not collapsed

    most cars will sit slightly lower on the drivers side
