battery light on, but everything seems fine..

    hello guys,

have a "problem" with my saxo 1.6 16v VTS mrk.1.

my battery light is almost always on (95% of the time i suppose), it also glows a bit sometimes.

measured my battery with a voltmeter, 12.6 v.
turned on the engine - 14,10 v. turned on my stereo and heater - 14,05 v, so it seems to be fine..

been driving like these for 3-4 months, anybody has any ideas about what the problem might be? or is 14,10 v simply too low for this model?

    regards. alex.

Small wire leading from alternator to dash is probably broken. Just trace where it goes. Not too sure if it goes via the ecu on a saxo maybe somebody else could advise?

Usually the multiplug on top of the alternator, theyre crap and corrode easily if disturbed. Mines had a battery light on for over 2 years, needed a new battery last year when the winter killed the last one but the light stayed on regardless

I posted a fix just recently for this.

ok, thanks for the advices.. guess i better check the wiring and the multiplug this week.

barry 123, i actually stumbled across your fix earlier today, but I am not sure, which connectors are to be packed in tin foil? the ones on the battery, on the alternator, or someplace else?

Sorry my friend, I was on my phone so difficult to give a suitable response.

On the alternator there should be two wires/cables attaching to it. There is one single cable which is the Live, and there is a smaller cable usually consisting of two wires that have a connector at the end of them - this connector then plugs into the alternator.

That is the connector with it's 'female' terminals that you want to plug with tin foil.

Any more problems then give me a shout and we'll see if we can sort it.

    Cheers!
