simple word no. if it states calipers then mate that is all you'll be getting.
buy the calipers new and get a decent set of cariers/sliders 2nd hand.

damn is not possible to buy them new ( the carriers and bolts ) ?
Also will the vtr setup be ok for 1.1 struts and for the moment fit under 14" steelies?

I got the bolts from ebay.

Shouldn't need to buy the carriers and bolts new. Only thing i'd renew would be the carrier slider bolt rubbers, can deteriorate with age and cause the brake to stick. Similar to a knackered calliper.

Although trying to get just the rubber parts is a nightmare unless you buy the calliper recon kit.

Would prefer to get them ( carriers )new, not having much luck though trying to find them, might have to put a request up in the wanted section.

I was doing a search and people were saying the Vt/Gti brakes were s*it and only a slight improvement over 1.1?!? Surely they are good enough for standard road use?

They are a lot better than the standard 1.1 brakes, much more feel.
I got the lot (discs/calipers/carriers/pads) used from ebay for £20, master cylinder was £25 second hand. Wire brush, brake cleaner, new bolts and 5.1 fluid and it was good to go.
