underseal

    Hey all im just wondering what the best way is to go about rust on the underside of the car , its nothing major surface rust by the looks of things , can i just wire brush it down and put some of that hammerite direct to rust and metal ? Or do i have to aply something eles first ? Im just gonna go halfords tomorow and buy everything so a list of things would be a big help lol bit cheeky to ask but would be a big big help cheers

    Wire brush it off,then apply kurust(think thats the name)let that turn black then underseal over the top.

    my old mk 2 escort was full of Fibreglass Resin and covered with underseal.
    passed every mot for years

    If you mean hide it, rather than sort it, don't do that. Hiding the problem isn't going to do you any favours, as said, wire brush, ku-rust or similar, and then underseal or paint, up to you.

    wire brush- some decent rust killer, bit of zinc primer- stone chip, hammerite in the colour of your car.
    then once a year clean it all off and re-paint in hammerite.

    best idea to sort it before it gets worse yeah, rust remedy or something similar then you could use hammerite or even stonechip

    Assuming it's just surface rust and there are no holes then I would go with this also.

    Check my progress thread as I did this on my arches.

    Wire brush on the end of a drill works well

    Yh it looks like surface rust , but if anything major ill take to college and get welded up ect , thanks for the info lads , and i like the sound of the wire brush on the end of a drill , dident think of that lol cheers
