Squealing/Grinding noise Saxo VTS (Video)

    Another day, another problem..

On the way up to my mechanic to get my rear beam fitted my car started making a really weird noise.

It starts off as a squeak (like a bird tweeting) which gets faster as the wheel goes round faster. Then this really loud grinding noise happens for about 5 seconds like this:

If you can't make it out, it kinda sounds like a bicycle brakes when they squeak and squeal without actually doing any stopping...

The wheel squeak happens all the time (sounds like its coming from the passenger side of the car), the grinding happens randomly from about 30mph to 70mph. The most common time it happens in when I'm engine braking at around 40mph in 3rd gear :/ then 5 seconds later it disappears and the squeak returns.

What on earth could it be?

    Thanks,
    Dan.

    Somethigns not tight.

Mine made this kinda sound when some stupid arse mechanic didnt tighten the wheel nuts properly. Feel anything through the steering wheel?

Also wheel bearing? sounds like metal on metal pretty bad.

    Could be wheel bearing?

Mine made a similar noise and it was the driveshaft, as said it could be a wheel bearing also

How could I check if its the driveshaft?

Does the passenger side driveshaft have an intermediate bearing fitted like on the vtr. My car was making this noise at the 50-70mph and i could feel it through the pedals, but then it stopped doing it for around 3 weeks, by that time i had fitted a new shaft due to removing the old one and finding that the intermediate bearing had shat out all of its grease and was running dry, never done it since in 1 year

Is it still there when decellerating and/or worse when turning? Sorry, i am not mechanically minded so not sure how to guide about actually checking

It goes when I steer right. It happens when driving straight or steering left...

sounds like your wheel bearing when turning left your putting weight on it that will be why it happins then , but dont quote me let your machanic look at it is the best idea

it is ever a wheel bearing or a drive shaft wheel bearings are pennys and driveshafts are around £50 can yhou hear what side it is coming from also check your cv boots may just be split and lack of greese just put your car on full lock both ways and check them sounds more like a driveshaft or boot though tbh 90% sure were bouts u from ? i got a brand new drive shaft spare as well

I'd say wheel bearing the squeeking could be the disk scraping the pads slightly as when the wheel bearing goes it can make the wheel tilt slightly making the disk sit a bit wonky inside the pads

For reference, its the drivers intermediate bearing!

Mine makes a similar sound, I checked the wheel bearing to then realise the CV had a huge gash in it so could be that
