Fitting a resistor for air bag light??

  1. #1
    Hello

Right I have bucket seats and the air bag light is on...obviously.

Now I have bought two resistors from Ebay, one for each seat.

There appears to be four cables under each seat, two of which are connected to a plastic connector and the other two I had to cut off the original seats as they were soldered.

The resistor simply has two wires coming off it

Where do I put the resistor??

    I am thinking.

Disconnect the battery and rit the resistor on the two cables which I cut??
Does it matter which way round the resistor goes??

    Cheers!!

u are correct and dont think it matters which way but i loose fitted them then switched on to see it worked before i soldered them on

Cheers mate, so the plastic connector just stays not plugged into anything and I connect the resistor to the two wires which I cut?

Want to be sure before I do it tomorrow.

well i dont really need to cut anything as at the end of the wire are two pin holes u can stick resistor straight into. that way u can always go back to standard

+1 the plug coming out of the dash that goes to your airbag contact ring, just loop a 2 ohms resistor in their(one leg of it each side)of the female plug. Then some insulation tape over the top & all done.

    Ok no probs mate.

I have only 2 wires under seat connected through plastic clip, would i just place the resistors in-between each connection the plug back together? or do i loop each side?? if that all makes sense lol

Hmm that's weird I have two wires going to a plastic clip and two more which we're also connected to the seat and I had to cut these.

If I get it wrong is there and chance of the other air bags deploying after I reconnect the battery?

    Cheers

Have you got a pic mate,i`m guessing its either a brown or orange plug(should be anyway)

mine where connected to the end of the plug that goes onto the pretentioner. i just unclipped the metel clip and it came off like a plug end and put resistors in there. but as above a pic would be easier to see and tell u what to do

Pic here, seems to be two clips per seat plus the two wires I cut.

The green clip is earth so it's not that but which one of the others does the resistor go on??

    Cheers

Would it not be better to remove the bulb as to make it easier to return to standard and there is no risk of the airbags going off when you're playing with airbag wiring?

It would but airbag light will be an MOT fail as of next month, light had to come on and then go out

Do you still have the standard citroen airbagged steering wheel?
  16. #16
Yes mate steering wheel is still standard?
These are the wires under the seats

Right 2nd question are you concerned about the air bag deploying or not?Sounds a stupid question but not all saxo air bags deploy.

Hmmm I would prefer it to deploy, even if the chance is minimal.

The resistor looks like it will slot into the top of the blue plug??

why do they not look my plugs under my seat. i just used the wiring that connects at top of pre tentioners that has the lil orange clip with two holes

Are the pretentioners the bit that is attached to the side of each seat as opposed to under it??

    Cheers

    Yes they are mate.

So what resistance do these resistors need to be and where do you get them.
Stupid new regulations means I will have to get my airbag light sorted!

Ahh ok well that's the two wires I cut then, the ones in the pic without a clip

ok read the thread again and ebay it is but what ohm do i need
  26. #26
    2 ohms resistors from Maplins.
