Well its running, it idles fine etc. But noticed the needle on the temp gauge doesn't move off minimum temp. But after a minute or so the temp warning light comes on (needle still doesn't move). When the temp sensor is unplugged the warning light goes off and needle goes quarter way up so I'm guessing the dial works fine so its going to be a faulty temp sensor?

#2Don`t know what your clutch/gearbox problem is,but the gauge issue is almost deffo the temp sensor on the thermostat housing.About £15.00 from eurocarparts or raid a scrapyard.1 user thanked this post:

#3Cheers mate, we thought it was that. Luckily we have sourced a new one for free but just waiting for someone to bring itQuote:Don`t know what your clutch/gearbox problem is,but the gauge issue is almost deffo the temp sensor on the thermostat housing.About £15.00 from eurocarparts or raid a scrapyard.

Next step find out what's up with clutch/gearbox/release bearing

#4back to this again. tried new temp sensor. no different. soon as ignition is on the temp needle shoots to half way point then slowly drops to dead.

#5Try one off a Berlingo(srs)thats what i`ve got in my saxo.Citroen ordered me a new sensor but got the wrong 1 in & all they had was a Berlingo one in stock & it works perfectly.
-
#6whats it look like? its a strange one. the loom is from a different car than the engine. but how the loom looks that goes to the sensor is theres 2 wires. but on the plug looks like there should be 3 wires that go into it. the sensor itself has 3 pins. i got one from scrap yard other week and that was the same, 2 wires going to a 3 pin sensor. so i took it, did no different. tried a new one today, still the same

#7it cant be the dials themselfs could it as it does move and all others are ok. the full loom and ecu has been changed but iv used my old set of dials. my dials where a single plug ecu (but the phase 2 dials) and iv put in a 3 plug ecu and full loom

#8Yours look anything like this mate?http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Citroen-Be...item1e6c64e95a
Thats a 3 pin off a Berlingo. -
#9Be the one right next to the thermostat iirc.. blue?
-
#10yup thats the correct one.Quote:Yours look anything like this mate?http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Citroen-Be...item1e6c64e95a

iv dared my self to drive the car (new engine to me so was a risk but whent to pick a mate up to help me with gearbox issues) that asside the heat of the engine is fine. heaters temp seems how it should be. fans not kicking in though and my temp dial was dead, guarantee if i start it tomorrow when engine is cold the temp dial will be half way. its as though its working the wrong way round. been told it could be an eart or it could be that i need to buy some vtr dials as im running 1.4 dials on this vtr engine and ecu -
#11do i need vtr dials will that sort the problem?
-
#12Well are they different?
-
#13Running the 1.4 ecu won`t help matters, the dials should be okay.Quote:yup thats the correct one.

#14im running vtr ecu and loom mate. just 1.4 clocks. and Prickle the only difference is the vtr ones have an extra 20mph

#17I`m running out of ideas now,erm go over the wiring loom & your earths. The only other suggestion is to try another set of clocks mate.
-
#18yup thats all i can think of now is earth or clocks.Quote:I`m running out of ideas now,erm go over the wiring loom & your earths. The only other suggestion is to try another set of clocks mate.
the loom defiantly pics up the sensor because if i turn the ignition on a cold engine and the needle goes to half way, if i disconnect the sensor the needle drops dead -
#19For the needle to shoot to 1/2 way like that would indicate a voltage surge IE a dodgy earth.Quote:yup thats all i can think of now is earth or clocks.

#21stevo where are all the earth locations? am i missing any?
2 on interior in the footwells on the wing. starter motor, gearbox, chassis arm near the lights. off top of my head without looking at the car thats all i can think of -
#22I think you`ve covered it mate, the only other 2 are behind the plastic panels each side above the parcel shelf. They`re for the rear lights but wouldn`t hurt you to check them being french wiring anythings possible mate.1 user thanked this post:
