HID kits

   ive seen a hid kit at bass junkies and he said their legall and would pass an mot and ive herd they wont pass hid kits on mots any more? i just wonderd if there an excetion when it comes to hid kits and depends if their installed correctly and arent too blue? or are they all illigal full stop. im still getting them tho lol only £80 fitted too!

   I think they're legal if they have auto leveling on them not possitive tho so don't hold me to it lol

   They are legal if fitted from factory or have self levelling or washer jets for the lights.
   
   If not then play dumb if you get pulled and say you didn't know. You would get a producer.
   
   But ffs if you do get HID's make sure they don't blin other people due to shit aligned lights, nothing worse getting blinded by shitly fitted HIDS.

   HID lights as fitted OE to cars and ECE approved with washer and auto levelling where applicable are legal. HID bulb conversion kits where a HID bulb fits in a Halogen approved housing are all not road legal and never have. The new MOT starting later this year will even test specifically for such none legal kits as they have become such an epidemic.

   I unfastened it needs auto levelling but how do washer jets effect it :s

   i add them on my prelude didnt pass mot with them on

   mine passed last month with them cos he got a beam pattern off them and other parts werent there to test.

   Well the guy said there legall and everything but if there not i dont really care police dont seem to be botherd about blue lights round here

   And all these intelligent people on Sax-P, especially AXracing, have told you that they are not legal. Seeing as you don't seem to care anyway, there was no real need for this thread (and if you did care, the answer could easily have been found using numerous search engines located on the world wide web.)

    Actually doing searches on it gave me loads of different answers. And I wanted to know if there was something you had to do to make them legal which is haveing washer jets or auto levellin, I was curious if I could make them legal. But since I cant it doesn't bother me.

    Why make a thread asking if they are legal or not, If you still intend to buy them!
    Tbh you must be pretty blind if you cannot see the road ahead with normal lights.
    
    Swear the amount of cars with them in around here is stupid and they all must be a DIY job as beam is shooting for the stars!

    the alignment is only half the problem!
    
    HIDs / projector bulbs compared to standard reflector bulbs are different!the beam pattern is different, set the level spot on and it will still blind all other road users due to the design of the bulb.
    if you want to put HIDs in a reflector based headlight then get the reflector based bulbs!
