VTR Turbo Fueling Issues

  1. #1
Evening all right today I finshed my turbo conversion on my vtr. I have changed fuel pressure reg to a 4 bar and plugs to ford turbo ones. I am running a solid 9 psi boost but when on boost it seems to be bogging down and feels to be running lean I just wondered if bigger injectors will sort the problem if so any ideas of what size? I was thinking vts maybe a good start. Cheers

You need a standalone ecu and suitable size injectors for your power target.

stand alone will be coming in the future any ideas on injector size to help running atm

I'd be more tempted to buy a standalone ecu first to be honest mate

Renult 5 gt turbo t2 Mhm manifold full stainless 2 inch saxsport ford turbo plugs and 4 bar fpr running 9 psi

With no afr gauge on you'll be looking at a fried engine very quickly tbh

first call of port should be an aftermarket ecu, throwing more pressure and bigger injectors is just pissing in the wind I'm afraid.

You have to sort your fuelling out! As has been said, Bigger injectors + More pressure, is NOT "sorting your fuelling out."

Where do people seem to be getting this idea that all it takes to turbo a car is a couple of bolts, a new manifold, a turbo, a bit of pipe and a new FPR? All the valuable information on this sort of project can be found in the Engine FAQ's page. It's there to stop people frequently asking questions.

I do understand that it will req a standalone as its not just about more fuel it's about ignition timing too. I simply asked what injectors are you guys running at that sort of boost didnt realise it would offend!!

you determie what sort of power your going to/want to run, leave soime scope for future mods if thats waht your planning, then work out what size youll need

Would something like a dastek piggy back be up to the job?
  13. #13
it would...but by the time you get it fitted and mapped with a boost module you may aswel go standalone
  14. #14
    What standalone would you recommend?
  15. #15
Megasquirt will probably be the best for a vtr

if you need bigger injectors I would try either 1.8 16v ones from a 406 or mi16 ones I can't say I had any issues on the kit when it was on my car but its good to see you've sorted most things out I couldn't

I've got a set of brand new 440cc injectors for sale along with a FPR with gauge if they're any use to you
