Please help: Saxo Problems

Hi guys,
I have had my Saxo for four months now and a couple things are starting to worry me. My mechanical knowledge is OK, but I know you guys have got a lot more extensive skills

1. Knocking noise on changing gear then accelerating. Does this ring any bells to people? There is no play in the gear stick, but a knock from the engine if I change gear and accelerate or decelerate suddenly.

2. Smell of petrol when I get in the car after it has been sitting for a couple days, any ideas? The petrol gauge doesn't seem to have gone down so I'm not sure about a leak.

3. Clicking in starting the engine. This problem arose today and is one that is most worrying. It sounds like the starter motor clicking, is it on its way out?

I would be grateful for any help or advice.

The knocking noise could be wishbones,driveshafts or engine mounts.The clicking starter sounds like the starter on its way out.

as for the smell of petrol i wouldnt worry to much, if i leav mine for a few days or if its a cold morning i often get he smell of petrol when i start the car and i dont have any leaks

1. is driveshaft my old furio did the same
2. mine does this to wen it been stood up
3. sounds like your starter on it way

Thanks for the info guys.
Better look at getting a new starter, dont want to be left stranded suddenly one day, where would be the best place to get one, ive spotted one Here on ebay, here or on eurocarparts.
Might have till wait a little longer for the knocking noise, dont have much money at the moment.
