mk1 or 2 saxo

    Hi got my son a saxo mango orange 4 door it has a body kit on but the front bumper was naff cracked so i got a new to me one from the bay mk2
    the bloke at the garage fitted it and he said the car was a mk1 but if we got mk2 wings it would be ok ,so i did he fitted them it looks shitey gaps bulges,so he said get a mk1 bumper but have been looking and everyone says its a mk2 car,its doing my head in,please if anyone can help here is a picture

    with by looking at the front of the car, e.g lights, wings, bonnet etc. its an mk2

    but the spoiler is from an mk1

    the front spoiler was glued on to another bumper thats why i had to change it,and the bumper i brought was a but wider so didnt fit the wings

    sounds like you bought a vt front bumper if its wider,also mk1 and 2 bumpers are the same

    got these fitted looks naff 330699284830 got the pair going to change them back to the old wings just got to get a bumper now,if there is anyone in the peterborough area who could look at this in the flesh i would be very gratefull

    Thought Mk2 bumpers are the tiniest bit bigger?

    thats a mk2 mate without a doubt.
    'x' reg is 2000 i.e the cross over year when early 2000 had mk2 front ends but mk1 engine. later 2000 is when they were fully mk2 with the cartridge oil filter.

    but it does have the mk1 vt rear boot spoiler though. also if it were a mk1 and you got mk2 wings they wouldn't have fitted. the mk1 has squarer headlights and seperate indicator unit.

    thanks mate i can look for a front bumper now was getting confused with vtr vts furio mk1 mk2 ,i just need a bog standard bumper it would be nice to get a cool one for his car

    well you don't need to look at vtr/s or furio front bumpers as they will not fit properly with out a little work . as the sides sick out due to the kit on the arches of the vtr/s and furio.

    what you need is a 'flatarch' front bumper.

    think thats what i did wrong front bumper was a vts and wings was furio i think

    a furio has the vt kit on it aswell so if the wings came from a furio they'll have holes in the wings where the kit should be fitted.

    very rare indeed

    as said, you have a mk2. Mk1 and mk2 bumpers are the same, the difference is what model they came from. A 1.0/1.1/1.4sx/1.5 bumper and arch looks different to a furio/vtr/vts bumper and arch

    that one you linked off ebay ( 330699284830) is from a vt kitted saxo, so it wont match your car.

    You need to a get a 1.1 bumper, dont understand why the garage said you need mk2 wings. your car is a mk2 and already has mk2 wings??

    yes that bumper will fit, that looks to be the standard bumper

    its not mango orange though, thats yellow so will need respraying

    i dont know why garage said either, i have spent a small fortune on wings bumpers and fitting ,and now it looks like it will be a paint shop aswell. cant find a mango orange bumper
