axle question

So i had the car up checking the rear axle for any play.... and low and behold theres alittle bit of play its not to bad so i think it should be fine for awhile i hope

Anyway my question is do i go and get a used rear axle and run the risk of it going again or do i pay out for a reconditioned one??

Pay for a recon one. It saves you A LOT of money in the long run. Don't take the risk. If someone says it's been recon'd then ask for reciept/proof.

I spent around £250 ( fuel, fitting and the cost of the axle ) last year on a 2nd hand exle, which had been told it was recon'd, when it hadn't. So I ended up having to go to IM axles to get a refurb'd one. So I basically threw away £250.

    I learnt the hard way.

If you have the £350 to spend then a recon one obviously, it will be warrantied for a year and likely to last several years.

A second hand one will be cheaper but could already have play unless you can test it before it gets removed from the donor car.
