Tyre sizes on 15" alloys

  1. #1
I've got myself a set of 15" MVK alloys. They have 195/65R15 tyres on them but i don't think they'll fit in my arches.

My car is lowered but i don't know by how much but i want to know what size tyres will fit so i can replace them.

Any lower than 40mm and you will need 45s as 50s will scrape around the arch

195 50 15's are considerably cheaper than 195 45 15's, and i feel they have better road holding and better handling in general depending on brand.

I'll have to work out how much i've been lowered then i can work out what would be better. They have a set of 195/65 on now so i can't even get it in the arch at the back.

The 50s seem to be a bit more common as well. I'm only going to get a set of budget ones from a scrappy until i can afford a sticky track day set.

Been out for some advice today and i have found out that a 45 R15 has a slightly smaller rolling diameter than a 55 R14 and a 50 R15 has a slightly bigger rolling diameter.

ride on mine is harsh as hell after going from 45 on 15s to 40 on 16s! I could feel a £1 coin if I ran over one....

I'm sure you were the one that was asking about a brake upgrade?! And said you were running good tyres...

Really no point upgrading brakes if you're running budget ones
