Important! : Exhaust Manifold Gasket

  1. #1
Hi I've notice today that the front core plug had a little pop out I know why this was because the car had sat with no aintifreeze for a while . How ever it had a new rad fitted and a nice top up of aintifreeze ... I tap it back inn looks fine now well I had to remove front Exhaust Manifold Gasket . I've bolted it back up and now it's blowing .... I think I need Exhaust Manifold Gasket paste . I'm sure this will stop it blowing ... Has any one ever had to do this ..when refitting it and I've notice I've got a metal Exhaust Manifold Gasket and a rubber kinda one which is best to put on ??

If the exhaust manifold gasket is blowing, its likely because its become warped.

If you have an intact gasket and the right studs/bolts and its done up correctly then it shouldnt blow.

Cheers mate . I know what your saying . But I'm sure when you remove it you must put some Exhaust Manifold Gasket paste to prevent it from blowing .. I've got 2 parts of a gasket 2 to left and 2 the right then I've found a metal one that's all together not sure which one is best ? To put back on

So your using an old nackered gasket? If so get a new one and don't use paste at the manifold/centre section end.

Lad at college did that after fitting a new cat.....the paste ended up in the cat and nackering that and the warrenty void lol

Mine is one unit and was about £5 new from Citroen.

Buy a new one and fit it, if it still blows then your mani could be warped.
