Right, finally getting round to stripping out the interior of my sax. What i need to know is what do i need to leave in so that i can still pass an MOT, as it'll still be my daily.

#2i think all you need is the dash tbh, dont seeing it needing doorcards and carpets?
-
#3Any seats that are left need working seat belts and all warning lights like airbag etc need to be off
-
#4If you remove the seats you need to remove the belts.
Basically anything that the car has needs to work, you also can't have sharp metal edges on show so you'll need your door cards. -
#5Mine passed with no door cards.
There's no sharp metal behind there
Rip everything out
4xdoorcards
headlining
carpet and sound deadening
Plastic's eg a b c pillars
pas + airbag + airbag ecu
spare wheel -
#6cant say ive looked behind many saxo cards tbh..

Id also not bother stripping it at all if you drive it on the road any more than to and from trackdays as living with a gutted car is fucking shit..
Ignore all the bandwagon of "its fine" "its better" its not its either cold or hot, not a "nice" noisy more of a drowny rattly annoying noisy and is just an unpleasent place to sit. -
#7As above, don't bother unless it's going to be used for track days, the rear of mine is stripped out and it gets to a point where I'm pretty much tearing my hair out on motorway's, can also get very cold in the winter
-
#8What you mean when you look at the sat nav and youve still got 200miles to get home so you go to lean on the door card to do the classic "ahh jeeez" and you faceplant the glass as you dont have a door card..1 user thanked this post:

#9To be honest, there would be less rattles if i take the door cards off as they rattle anyway and the exhaust drones. So i won't really notice the difference.
-
#10you also need door handles to pass an MOT. Putting a strap in there after you removed the door card does pass.
-
#11Why the fuck would you strip the interior out on a daily car
thats what chavs do.
-
#12I don't yet. I'm making a plans/ to do/ parts list for when I get a job/ money.

#13Dear meh. Dear meh.
Im making plans for a new house when im a millionaire/the don/etc -
#14don't strip it. Unless you put 2 buckets and a cage in there while youre at it, it looks pikey as fuck
-
#15Suppose 1 key question nobody has asked is how far you drive daily. Providing you don't travel long distances to work or prolonged motorway distances everyday, i don't see the problem. Hopefully you'll travel about 10 miles to work on a B road & love it....
Otherwise look for new job lol! -
#17+1 on not bothering to stip it, yeah it would be fun for like 5 minutes then after that you look like a twat everytime you pull up next to someone at the lights and everytime you give someone a lift you have to explain why your interior is gone not to mention the tinny noise all the time.. obviously its upto you what you do with your car I just think stripping should be left to track cars1 user thanked this post:

#18Currenly you dont need the airbag light off to pass the MOT but you will next year. This can be got round by wiring a 2 oms resistor on the end of any airbags you take out. But if you are stripping it i would advise buckets and 4 point harnesses just to save face
-
#19dont strip it! i had a dent in my passenger door and had the door card off for a week. it let cold air in and was fucking noisey with the wind getting through and engine and exhaust noises were clearer. multiply that by 4, then add the carpets and seats going as well so add more noises and minus the luxury of being able to take people out with you. the result of this equation? a shit idea
-
#20Yeh gota agree with above dont strip everything unless ur sure lol as the noise on long trips makes u wana rip ya hair out Lol
