Knocking when braking?? Driveshaft?

  1. #1
Hey today i gained a new knock... When i brake SOME TIMES it makes a knock and i can slightly feel it in the pedals, reason i ask ifits the driveshaft Is that the other day What i beleaved to just be a gaiter clip broke off and i have replaced it but it leaked alot of shitty oil?? Could it be the shaft knocking when i brake?? if not what else could it be for me to feel it in the pedal]

    Thanks

could be the driveshaft if the grease has all gone out of the cv joint

Would that be a case of cleaning it down ?? and see ifits happening ??? if not u saying it the CV joint mate?

the gaitor that you put a new clip on should be packed full of grease so if you didn't put any new grease in it may be that making the noise (cv joint) in which case you would need to replace the driveshaft. just a suggestion though it could be other things making the noise i'm just going on what you said you could try packing it with grease to see if the noise goes by the way but they usually need replacing if they are noisy

my car has done this for over a year now

cant for the life of me figure out what it is. When i brake at low speed it makes a single knock noise. Ive replaced one of the driveshafts becuase the gaiter had split, and the other shaft looks fine... ive just got used to it lol

Check the control arm ball joints - could be those

Danny vts reckon it could make a knock hen breaking cos my gator clip recently broke I replaced it with a jubilee clip but I did drive for two days with no clip reckon it could be bearings

Usually knocking can be made my a few things, just get a spanner on everything!

*all bottom arm bolts and check for play in ball joint
*play in strut top, check the 19mm and 2/3 13mm nuts on the strut top
*nut in strut that holds the shock in - tightened with pipe wrench
*driveshaft issues- try and twist the shaft and see if it moves when the cv joint stays still..

when you put a new clip on, did you pack the cv boot back up with grease?

mine knocks when going round left hand corners and braking.
when it gets warm it sounds like woody the woodpecker is underneath my car :/
