195/45/15 or 195/50/15

Now ive always been under the impression that 45 are the only size to go.

I see a fair few people run r888 and spec 2 which only come in a 50 prof

So can you get away with running a 195 50 15
    instead of the usual 195 45 15...

do they catch on the arches on full lock(no archliners)?

    Discuss....

i see people on here running 50 profiles alot, never heard of problems unless you're pretty low

ive always prefered 45 due to looks tbh not a fan of fat tyres

50's on my vts catch on the back bumper going over big bumps and they rub on full lock, may have something to do with the offset of the wheels but im not sure

If your cars lower than 40mm, then you will find 50s will probably catch and scrape, if your not that low, you might get away with 50s

Stick with 45s on the road and save yourself the hassle of rubbing imo. Not many semi-slicks are available in 45 profile, hence why people run 50s for track use.

My 50's rub a small bit and the rear rubs when going around Knockhill but I am around 40mm down all round.

you should get less flex in the sidewall of a 45, but they are generally a good bit more money

im wondering more for mot purpose...
as in when going full lock does the 50 prof hit the chassis.....

Worth mentioning you're talking about an AX Aaron whereas people fit 17's to Saxos

Scrubbing with 50 profile 15's is well documented on ax's

The offset plays a huge part when fitting 50 profile tyres. You want to be around ET8 to avoid hitting the inner arch but under ET5 to avoid hitting the bodywork.
