torsion bar problems

   hi there...after noticed rear wheel wobble i decided to have a look....after finding out it wasnt bearing in the hub...decided to check the torsion bar or stub?
   
   alarming movement was discovered...now its the first time me and my dad have looked intot his kind of thing...is there bearings in it? heres a pic.
   
   
   
   
   and also noticed this spring beside the torsion...and its slack?...what does this do? is it to do with the brakes?

   oh one more thing...referring to the top picture of the torsion...when undo-ing the bolt on the right hand side...when undone it dropped about half a mill.

   you need to get a new axle or recon yours buddy and as for the spring mines the same

   so you reckon the whole thing is frigged?...its only the end of the torsion that moves...right where it joined onto the other main part where the spring is

   Yes there's bearings in there , pin roller bearings I think , they can be replaced if shaft they sit on or in isn't shagged if it is ull need new axle , and the spring is for the brake bias it adjusts brakes depending on boot load so if rear wheels are off floor it should b loose I think don't hold me to it though lol

   cheers mate...because its not actually the whole beam thats moving just that end...where you'd expect bearing to be

   They sit inside the arm , mine was the same but the shaft they roll on was pitted and smashed so you don't really wana put bearings back in there if its like that , u can get a axle for as little as 80 quid

    you can replace the bearings as in the guide but if you have noticeable movement in the arm then its probably passed repair and worn down the stub pins in which case you are going to need a new/reconditioned axle or a good used one if your not wanting to spend on a new one
