air bag light

my air bag light seems to pop up somedays and then not on others.. it started when i left the car at home while i was on holiday for a week came back and its been on/off ever since.. any sugestions peeps as how i can sort it? cheers :-)

Sounds daft but mines been on when there are coins trapped under the seat rails.

its almost always resistance in the shitty connector blocks under the seats

i sorted mine out 4 years ago by disconnecting them and soldering a 3 ohm resistor to each wire coming out the carpet in order to 'bypass' the seat pretensioners. Havent come on since

(disconnect the battery before unplugging anything airbag related)

Think you could take a photo of that? Cos there are two wire's in the orange casing. Do you mean a resistor to each of the two wires inside? or connect them together using the resistor?

most likely the connector under seat, i had my airbag and steering wheel off the other day changing dials, once reconnected air bag light kept flashing, but i disconnected the plug under seat for five minutes put it back in and it went off instantly

i dont have a pic, but something like this (excuse my drawing skills

i cut the connector block off, and was left with 2 wires inside the orange wire. Soldered a resistor so that it goes back on itself and then wrapped it up with insulation tape and tucked under the carpet. Then do the same for the other seat.
It means your pretensioners wont explode in a crash but your airbag should.

Yeh the guys have it sorted its almost definately the wires under the seat, mines goes on and i just feel under the seat for the wire then it turns off, will get round to fixing the connection when i find my soldering iron

ive cut my connector block off under seats and joined the wires together and taped um up that didnt work :/ so would getting a 2 omh resistor and wiring it upto those two wires that come off the carpet work ? what do i do about the other orange wires that under the seat ? i was gonna take my bulb out but not sure how to get at the thing :/ many thanks

I wouldn't take the bulb out if i was you, because the airbag light is going to be part of the MOT check. If it is permenantly on, or doesn't light up at all when ignition is switched on, it will more than likely fail.

i know its a silly question but would i have to disconnect the battery before soldiering the resistor to the wires ?

Do i only put a resistor to the ones out the carpet only ? what about the others under the seat that lead somewhere else toward the front end of the car ?

you dont need to solder anything, the resistor wires are long enough to slide into the plug, either end to each terminal

i just remove the lot, no light is no fail

May be daft but I tried your suggestion of cleaning out the grot under the rails and now have a functioning air bag warning light and have retrieved £1.76. Well worth a try, by the way I did unplug an reconnect the orange wires under the seat as well, but the cash will be useful. Any more tips like this?

Completely strip out your saxo there maybe more cash hidden.(sorry just had to)

I decided to use the cash found under the seat rails to buy some electrolube contact cleaner from Maplins. As the pins in the plug and socket under the seat are quite thin they are quite likely to become corroded, hopefully a quick squirt into the socket has now cleaned and protected it for another 15 years. At least the warning light is working for the moment and it passed the MOT.

my air bag light has been on constant for a little while i thought it was just a the connecters being shit as it was still plugged in, i didnt think much of it...but when i crashed last month the air bag didnt deploy which has got me thinking, i only crashed at about 15-20mph and it wasnt much of a impact but should of it still deployed??

I wouldn't have thought it would deploy at those speeds. I think it just depends on how hard the airbag ecu decides is enough to deploy. Sometimes they don't work at all.

my airbag light comes on i checked under the seat and there is only a one straight cable no conectors or something is a 2002 VTS

I have this issue aswell! just got my engine management light off and now have a airbag light, is on 95% of the time but occasionally goes off for a few mins! really don't fancy soldering resistors in etc!

i took my saxo for mot april 2014 and air bag light was flashing so i took bulb out and was a advisory but if light was flashing or on it would of been a fail so ill stick with that as more than likely i will b the last owner of it next stop will b the grave lol
