PAS pump relocation

  1. #1
doing a vts conversion in the summer months and i am planning on smoothing the bay and tucking the wires. have done a bit of reading on the difference between the non pas set-up etc. and have decided i would rather keep the PAS.

anybody put their pump were the spare wheel is meant to be and plumbed it in. best spot to put it to cancel as much noise or would the length of the pipe reduce the effectiveness of the PAS?

    any help appreciated

    thanks

Porsches have the pump at the bck and the rack at the front and they work just fine so i don't see why your idea wouldn't

Diggers over on 106 owners relocated his to the boot when he did the xud9 conversion. Just run longer pipes and make sure you clip them up safely. Oh and that you have the correct amount of fluid.

I run mine under the boot floor (as does Titch). Two years ago I ran it behind the passenger seat. Just run longer lines. No other differences.

thank you all very much for all your help lads.

one more question. what sort of pipes be used? i know that the pipe at the pump end is just rubber and is held on by a clip but what sort of end is for the rack?

    thanks again lads

you'll need to get the standard metal end part from an existing line taken to a shop that can fit it to a new extended pipe for you.

so if i take my existing pipes and chop the metal ends on them and get longer pipes a hydraulic specialist will put the ends back on.

what would be the best pipes to use. i see you have a new pipe.

    thanks again
