Ive only just got my Saxo VTR & the engine management light has come on, ive had a read on a previous post about disconnecting the battery for half hour then it should go off but when I do it doesn't stop beeping even when disconnected , its got a after market alarm on it so don't know whether that's anything to do with it? Should I just go for a new lambda sensor or figure out why it constantly beeps when the battery is disconnected?

#2Need to get a diagnostic tester on it really to work out which sensor is flagging a fault.
It could be the one for the Lambda but you may waste money replacing by assuming its this when in fact its something else.
Mine is on and I know its the 2nd lambda but as I don't have a CAT anyway, im not fussed. -
#3Yeah suppose, just don't understand that something's still beeping when I've disconnected the battery

#5Yeah it probably is, the central locking is very temperamental, works one minute then I'll be using the key in the barrell to lock & unlock The next, I also noticed a different key that turns off that beeping noise, it's under the bonnet, which ive never come across, but kept that quiet while disconnecting the battery which by the way didn't shift the management light. Can see this being a pain to get around.

#6The bleeping noise and engine management will be totally separate things...
Engine management light... as youve disconnected the battery (cleared the stored error codes) and the light comes on instantly when you start up, then I would say you have a sensor missing completely or its knackered. But as devil says, a cheap and cheerfull scanner like this... Bluetooth OBDII / ELM327 v1.4 will tell you for sure...
Bleeping... all Cat 1 alarms/immobilisers must have an independent battery back up isolated (and hopefully hidden) from your main battery. So the bleeping when you disconnect your main battery is definitely alarm or immobiliser related.
