airbag help

   hi guys,
   
   I have a 2001 X plate vtr, the airbag light is constantly on.
   
   I have took the connectors out from under the seat and connected the wires up without the connectors however the light is still on.
   
   I have disconnected the battery for 24 hours to see if the light would reset but it hasnt.
   
   If I take it to a garage to have the airbag code cleared should this turn the light off?
   
   Any help would be appreciated.

   Firstly don't mess around with the airbag wiring, its highly dangerous and can trigger the airbags with even the slightest static.
   
   As for your question, it could be a whole range of things
   > Airbag fault
   > Pre-tensioner fault
   > Wiring fault
   > ECU fault
   > Sensor fault
   > Clockspring fault
   
   The only way to be sure is have it diagnosed with diagnostic software. That will point you in the right direction, you may be lucky and it only be a "memory" fault which can be cleared instantaneously.

   Yes mate be careful if u do decide to mess about with it but safer to get it plugged in mate :-)
