Problems fitting VTR Alloys on my 1.1

  1. #1
Just snapped up some VTR alloys with new tyres for £60 from the scrap yard, got the locking nuts and the longer nuts with the alloys. When i fit the rear alloys on they are very close to the arms and other things around the wheel? is this right or will i need spacers to bring the alloys away slightly. The alloys are off a phase 1 saxo but mine is a phase 2, is this the problem?

    Thanks

I think i`m correct in saying that there are 2 different types of vtr wheels bolts IE ones for earlier models & ones for latter models, this may be your problem.

so the bolts are the problem? i just seems as if the alloys i have are slightly too deep and look as if they will catch when rolling. If i fit 10mm spacers, do you think this will solve the problem? Also is there any problem with replacing 13" for 14"? Ive heard that it can mean your speedo is out slightly after.

I Apologise for these mountains of questions but just need to know some things

i would just get some 5mm spacers mate with the standard wheel nuts. i have 'vtr fitment' wheels on my car and had to put some extra spacers on the rear as i had the same problem as you. i think its the fact that lesser model saxos have rear drums which don't poke out as much as the disk setup so the wheels sit further in

okay mate, i thought that this would solve it tbh just needed confirmation from someone else. Are there any specific spacers i would need?

i have 20mm hub centric spacers on my furio drum and tbh they are absolutely spot on, i think the drums are actually about 15-20mm shorter than disk beams so looks much better.

The vtr's on my 1.0 are extremely close to the rear axle and inner arches

are they? have they caused you any problems as of yet?

not sure if its similar but I put GTI raptors on a 1.1 Indy 106, these need 10mm spacers otherwise it rubbed on the arms and rear shocks, as for the speed issue it hardly changes as I presume the wheel thickness is smaller? there are some websites out there that advise what the MPH difference would be, but unless your going silly size then it remains pretty much the same
