on my 1.1 i had i brought a chrome tip back box from parkers exact size to the standard 1.1 box but i had trouble with the clamp they gave me it was too thin so i had to buy a wider clamp which was ok at first but as the joint is right below the axle it made a terrible rattle when idle.

but no you dont need to seal that joint the clamp should do fine

i had a leak on mine but as the joint is under the axle that was the reason i was told i had one, the idle was shite and rattled the clamp loose but when tightened it was ok

condensation do you do a lot of small trips say to work and back?

Just water build up in the exhaust. give it a long run out and get the engine hot and will evaporate most of it away.

Yeah it mainly gets little trips all the time will take it for a good drive and see if that solves the problem

personally I hate having to do a job twice. For the sake of a little effort in beading some silicone around the flange it means that as you tighten the two parts together, if the shape is not a perfect fit you still get an excellent seal.
I then just torque the olive clamp up and its job done.
