Difference between a 1.1 and vts

  1. #1
Trying to find out what differences the 1.1 shell has to the vts shell, I know the rear arches are different and the rear axle has no abs and drums, am just trying to find out if you can strip a 1.1 and build a vts in it without any other major alterations to mounts etc can anybody help?

Pretty sure the 1.1 needs the top VTS engine mount welding on.

Not 100% mind, may just be the 1.0.

everythings changable, for the engine your going to need to run the return fuel line,

As for MK1 to MK2 you have to cut about an inch off the ends of the cars shell to fit the mk2 wings as the mk1s are that little bit longer you will see exacly what i mean when it comes to fitting the wings and slam panel

Also as just said if its a MK2 it will have the feeble engine mount but its not a mk2 1.1 is it ? if it is the engine mount cradle needs welding on

This is starting to sound like a lot of work, are the vtr mounts the same as the vts?

you don't have to use a different engine mount as i'm still using the 1.1 mount. and you don't necessarily need to plumb in a return as mine already had one(early mk2 spi)

yeah its alot of work it seems your doing it to try and scank your insurance,

    My advise if you are

Buy a furio 1.4 vts engine will plonk straight in as long as ecus unlocked your better off with a W reg as there a change over year car and have a single plug interior loom for a greater selection of used vts engines, also vt kitted fitted

Other than that Buy a vts.. lol, OR vtr will have the disc rear beam that the furio doesnt its not that much work to he ohnest if youv got a few pals that can help and a decent selection of tools

might just keep my shell and spend the time cleaning it right up, it needs tax and a windscreen which is why I thought it may be easier and cheaper to buy a shell with tax and test so I can just insure and go, gonna be 100 for windscreen and 140 for 6 months tax. I dunno what's the sensible option as my judgement is clouded by the repaires the vts needs over the price of a new shell with tax and test

I would still have to pay some1 to fit for 40 quid and then pay for the windscreen and have the hasstle of removing it in the scrap yard and for the same of 20 to 30 quid I might aswell save myself the bother and have 1 supplied and fitted new for 100 quid
