Some tyre help?

  1. #1
Right i have just spent an hour trawling through threads i found on a search and i didnt really find what i wanted to know.

I need 2 tyres for the front of my car, and im un-decided on what to go for. Im abit skint so money is a major factor. The likes of 888's etc are not what im after its 99% road use that im using them for, however i do want something that feels better than previous ones ive used:

Toyo T1R's - Thought they were 'Ok' in the dry terrible in the wet.
Avon ZV3's - Not really any plus points in the dry or wet.
Toyo proxes 4 - Felt the good in the dry but again not very good in the wet.
Kumho KU31 - Terrible all round
Nankang NS2 - Terrible all round

Also any help on the best place to buy them would be a good shout too aside from camskill & black circles

Interesting you find Kumhos terrible. You're the only person I have seen who doesn't like them.

I've never had an issue with mine

I've got rainsport 2's on the rear and i highly reccomend them. Much better than my previous set (eagle f1's) They pop up on camskill suprisingly cheap now and then.
    £52 at the moment however.

    Uniroyal Rainsport 2s.

T1R grip in the dry, astonishing levels of grip in the wet, and the same price as T1Rs, give or take a couple of quid.

Oh, and I too, am surprised at your dislike of KU31s, I loved mine.

He's looking for relatively cheap tyres. RS-Rs aren't in that range IMO. On a side note, how long you had a PS13?!?!?

Everybody i know gets on with those Kumho's, always seem reasonably priced as well. I can see where you are coming from with the Proxes T1r's , i never really got on with them, awful in the wet and wore very quickly on the shoulders. It's going to be another vote for Rainsport 2's from me, i get on with them really well, and as you'd expect they are great in the wet as well as the dry! Seem to be wearing well too. Hankook V12 evo is a great tyre as well imo. Not sure on prices though.

imo the best tire for saxo - Michelin PE2

    1. It has the correct 195/45 15 size
    2. It very comfy and silent enough
    3. Tread wear life is excellent, probably the best! (it might even compensate the price)
    4. It has tons of grip both dry and wet
    5. Forgiving and easy to control if you drive really hard

PS personally I seriously don`t like the idea of using different tires on different axles

When you've made your mind up have a look on www.event-tyres.co.uk I've just ordered a set off there and the prices are really competitive, and they come to your door!

Toyo RSR's are pretty good if you're willing to spend a tad extra.
