Declare VTR Alloys on Insurance?

  1. #1
Would i need to declare VTR Alloys on insurance? Because their standard would i be able to get away with saying i brought the car with them on?

Depends whether you have a vtr or not as to whether they are standard . If they are on a different model its worth mentioning it imo. Some insurers might not put the price up if you tell them they are off another citroen, some might. Why not ring them and say you're thinking of doing it and would it cost any extra?

Dont bother theyre citroen wheels arent they..

Shouldn't bother, just another excuse to get raped by your insurance company

If anything ever happended and it got checked the guy who comes to look at the car wouldnt say anything..

its like all the people with 16v conversions, hes going to open the bonnet go "o look an engine" then check for damage on the inner wings and shut it again...

I declared the VTS wheels on my old GTI because technically you are meant to as they are a modification, regardless of what anyone elses opinion is.

Sometimes they will charge and sometimes they won't care.

Upto you whether you do or not but my advice would be to declare them.

Ive not declared my vtr rims on my 1.1 desire as theyr citroen rims. May call tesco though and say im thinking about it to see if theres a cost

+1 whether they`re made by the same manufacturer as your car or not if they didn`t come as standard then they are a modification.Should be declared unless you want your insurance invalidated, its for this reason I didn`t fit them on mine & the insurers wanted an extra £100.00.

That takes the piss, think they only wanted like £13 for mine. Admiral at the time seemed to be great with mods for me.

Bucket seats, induction kit, alloys, lowering, exhaust and manifold, debadging, stripped only cost like £40 something quid to declare

Every insurance company handles mods different. you SHOULD declare your mods as it was not standard on that car. It was standard on a different car. So it counts as a modification give em a call n ask

my furio came with vtr rims, it was an option from the factory i do believe, yet nowhere does it mention this, should i declare them or should i just assume they are standard, well i did the latter anyway

they are citreon stamped etc, so i can't see there being a problem, but insurers love to fuck you over in any way they can, just taking back i guess.

Upon a quick search. It might seem that they were an optional extra. which do not have to be declared. I believe

If it didn't leave the factory with them on, then it's a modification.

Direct Line would not allow the gf to have vtr alloys on her old 1.1
On her policy, no mods allowed if under 25

We tried the optional extra argument.... with no luck.

On a previous car I had after market wheels and had a crash. They didn't say anything, They just didn't replace/fix them when they were scuffed.

Obviously if they were found to be defective then they would have some issues with me having them.

I'm with Tesco, No charge for 16" Airaines (307 wheels) on my 405. Despite being painted all funky. No chrge for Decals/Vinyl wrap. No charge for backbox. But £300 for lowering.

It's always good to speak to them and Enquire about things that 'you might do to your car' to see the costs incurred. Tesco's charge an admin fee on certain mods, they charged me the admin ontop of the £300 for lowering, but no admin fee for Vinyl wrap, zorst or wheels.

    Hope this helps.
