406 brembo sqeal on a 206, help.

    right guys,

as we al know, fiting these brembos on a 206 with the 283mm discs results in a loud squel under brakeing, in my case VERY loud when used lightly, quieter under heavy brakeing and non at al when they get hot but you have to punish them to keep the heat up and in everyday driving this obviously isnt posible lol

im looking to reduce the level of noise or get rid of it

so i have a few questions:

i hear people sayin "use this disc" or "use this pad" but is there any evidence any of this works, like has anyone tried it with positive result? i curently have pagid discs and pads

people have told me that the 406 forum has a solution for the noise posted up, i googled 406 forums and there was loads and i couldnt find said thread, can anyone help me out on this one?

and finaly, i know you can buy/have made brackets that sit the caliper further out so you can run the 302mm disc that they use when on the 406. question is, would they then fit under my 16" nimrods and if so how would i go about getin some of these?

another idea i had was to go to my local performance store (revolution, gateshead) and have the 283mm disc refaced so its the same width as the pad, as the reason you get the noise is because the pad doesnt hit the whole disc, mises then inner edge by roughly 5mm.

long winded i know but im sure someone will be able to shed some light here and help me out :-)

    thanks,

    Karl

there are so many variables about why they make noise!

but bear in mind they squeal on the 406 v6 coupe aswell!!!!!

most people find dismantling the calipers, getting new stainless steel shims made and fitted works well.

the coupe owners club forum swear by fitting genuine pads and disks to help the problem

wel i thought the made the noise as to run them on a 206/saxo you have to use 283mm discs instead of the 302mm so the pad doesnt hit all the disc.

ive heard that genuine pug pads and discs help, but would that be a case of geting pug pads for the 406 v6 THEN pug discs for a gti180?

What discs are you using? Gti180 discs? If so then these are classed as the wrong discs as the offset is wrong, the guide on here says to use the xantia v6 discs to cure the problem, my housemate went from the 180 discs to the xantia discs are they stopped squeaking, but some people have claimed for this not to cure there problem lol

Taking the pads out and giving the calipers a bloody good clean helps quite a bit too
