knocking when turning

    car has got a knocking coming from the drivers side front wheel when turning left. it had advisory on bottom arm ball joint slight play but i have jacked it up and it sounds like the noise is driveshaft any ideas

    well if you can here a noise from the driveshaft when turning the wheel by hand, its going to make a hell of a racket at speed so i guess you know thats duff

    just seems strange only does it in one lock or is this normal??

    Put a pry bar in and see if there's any play. I had this problem a bit back, is it if your turning going over a slightly uneven surface? I put a bottom arm on mine and that did the trick.

    Check CV boots as well for tears and signs of grease.

    Had a worn ball joint replaced yesterday, the knocking when turning over bumps is cured.

    If you mean a continuous knocking while turning, it's probably driveshafts.
