help with gaz coilovers!

  1. #1
    hello everybody,
I'm in need of some help with my GAZ coilovers as I do not know if the helper springs sit at the bottom or top of the assembly.
At the minute I have fitted them to the bottom, but as I lowerd the car down one side does not fully compress but the otherside does.
It looks like the plastic spring seat is rubbing on the thread behind it.

Please help, I've been looking and can't find anything that would help

Pretty sure they go at the bottom (they do on pretty much all coilover kits i see)

Thats as much help as i can be I'm afraid!

I'm thinking they do but thought I would ask on here as I had to drive 170 miles with it today and the handling has been affected by the rubbing on the thread all other corners are more than perfect. Got to love gaz they know there shizzle!

Helper springs go on the top of the main spring. How much you looking to lower your car? Personnally I wouldn't use helper springs just put the main spring on and leave it at that.

I'm only lowering it around the 40-45mm mark. well I think it is, I got a "remanufacutured" rear beam and asked them to lower it by 40mm so I can only match it to where the rear sits.
As for taking the helper springs out compleatly, I have seen so many people saying the spring can become loose at full extention and as my kids go in the car don't want to take that risk.
