When changing digital clocks over, do the miles go with the clock or stored on ECU?

That's it tried it but not worked, now found out that red LEDs have a different volt reading than blue and green so think blown them

You can re-programme the mileage but is a sending away jobby to a specialist I found a lad on eBay that can do it once but a google search will show em
