Engine shaking on idle, whole car vibrating/rattling upon acceleration.

   As titled, I'm guessing the likely cause is an engine mount.
   Is this a common problem, and is there an easy way to check them?
   What would I be looking out for?

   definitely sounds like mounts, youll normally see them split or damaged
   
   the large mount near the ECU goes often

   Most likely to be the engine mount under the ECU - the bolt holding it to the rubber buffers can snap.

   Jyst open the bonnet, get someone to look at the engine/underneath to see how much it jerks when you lift the clutch up to pull away, jerk it so to speak.

   Or simply get a large flat head screw driver behind/ in the bush and wiggle it. Look for any movement or splits (safer option)

   Will probably be the ecu side engine mount, prone for the bolt snapping seen it a few times
