Saxo bonnet smashed windscree, nightmare!

Managed to drive about 10miles, then bang bonnet blew up smashed the windscreen not too much damage to the roof but dented around the aerial windscreen line looks fine. Bonnet hadn't been opened in at least a week and it was gale force wind. Bonnet closes fine and doesn't open so the catch isn't broken. Took it to a body shop place and they said it looks like a goner but are going to assess it and get back to me. Want to know other peoples experiences or suggestions can send pic. First car so heart broken, I've also only been driving a year so did well to get it stopped, bonnet pushed back down and drove to the nearest car park. Scary biscuits though. Thanks!!

it looks fairly straight in real life, its the dent that is the problem. body shop guy rang and said he's testing to see if its putting any pressure on the windscreen. I'm a woman though so not good at things and my reason for posting. Need other opinions.

daft as it sounds you will probs be better to get a replacement car.

That roof line has gone so you will need a new skin and front roof brace fitting and your looking at about £300 - 400 just for that plus fitting and paint. Not too sure what mark at ma motorsport charges but i cant see it been much cheaper than that.

Car is worth at least 1500, only 20,000 miles proper clean wee car a replacement is going cost me £1500-2000 so what's a few hundred quid if it will do me until it dies

just seems like such a waste, that's what is eating me about it!

Depends what the car means to you and how good the rest of the car is condition wise, like you say its only done 20k i would imagine it to be pretty much immaculate. if it runs well and has no other problems id say its worth fixing rather than buying another car you know nothing about, obviously as long as the repairs arent stupidly expensive. Just my opinion anyway

20k! has to be one of the lowest milage saxos in existance, a real shame tbh, always have this fear having a mk2, the catch on my last Mk2 popped open on its own three times last year, luckily i now no what the banging sound is of the bonnet bashing on the catch whilst driving and never had this happen!
