Ignition switch wiring?? and other ignition question

    Removed my ignition barrell/ignition switch last week there

    Been having some problems with the car, figured the switch might be sticking or something.

    Anyhow, upon looking at mine and all i have found on the web for sale i see a problem

    Mine only has 2 plugs coming from it (black and grey) and no brown like all the others have ive found? is this normal for a mk1 single plug vtr?

    Also, when you turn the key, first click disengages steering lock, what does the second click marked A do? as when checking for resistance through either pinouts, my multimeter shows no difference in reading for either at this click? what should it do?

    Just did another test, turns out the A position brings a connection between the brown wire on the grey plug and the black plug, but this click did not do anything when in the car
