clio sport HID not working ?

   my mates clio sport has the HID lights in as standard but when switched on the drivers side comes on - flickers, then goes off. he tried a new bulb but it did the same. does anyone know what this could be ? I think it's the box what goes on the back of the bulb but not to sure any help would be appreciated

   i would say a ballast fault. common fault on any vehicle fitted with HID (OEM or aftermarket)
   
   im not sure if the clios are fitted with a canbus system, could be worth putting iton a diagnostic computer and seeing what it comes up with, if its OE lighting it will be on there
   
   also, change the balasts over, see if it stops happening.

   The box you are referring to is the ballast. I have known a few to fail.

   i will try swap the boxes over tomorrow and see what happens if not i think he is going to take it to garage

   i will be surprised if this doesnt make a difference.
   
   if it stops the problem, then ideal. if not, a high quality aftermarket kit will be his best option rather than paying dealer prices for OE equipment.
   having it fitted as OE will already give him the Projector based lenses, washers and leveling system allowing it to be legal.
