Had a sump leak on the car, so went and bough brand new sump, gasket and sealent, took old one off no probs.

Put this new one on gasket in place sealed, etc held in place then bolted back on, woke up this morning to a small puddle of oil! its worse than it was!....i've tightend up the bolts (didnt want to put them in too tight), hasnt made a differece, the bolts looked alright when i come to put them back on. and kept them in the same place, tottaly confused me. anyone think why?? (brand new oil in btw).

take it off and clean it,just use a sealant and bolt it up in the proper order.

did the new sump come with a plug

Check the washer seal on the sump plug & renew if needed.

it looks like its come from the sides the plug is fine dry as a bone, it seems to be leaking from the corner above the ehxaust, the pain in the arse bit.

just to add, it seems to be going on the exhaust and burning up obvisouly when the exhaust gets hot. will this cause much damaged to the exhaust? its a pretty new down pipe to start with.

Its not cracked is it? Failing that you've either got a dirty mating surface or its "nicked" or corroded?

i'll just take it back off if i get a sec at the weekend, try it without a gasket? and clean it all up etc see what happens.

Its deffiantly not cracked i checked as i bought it brand new and wasnt gonna waste my money. ha.

What sealant did you use? I'd take it off, clean up and reseal with loctite silicone or similar

got some from my fitters at work some truck/car grade stuff they use, not branded as they buy it in bulk but its some strong stuff.
