Started to take my struts out today but the track rod end nut keeps spinning but not coming lose, what do I need to do to stop this happening?

A bar and find some way to apply a fair bit of pressure to the top of the rod.

Always make sure you fully clean the thread and use abit of wd40. If mine starts spinning, I usually use some plug pliers to force it back down into the taper. Hasn't failed me yet.

do it back up and clean the thread with wd40 ect and a wire brush then try again with pressure

get some mole grips and adjust them untill you can't squeeze them together then back the off a little.

so you'll be squeezing the track rod end into the hub. (one part of the mole grips needs to grip onto the hub.)

just incase you didnt know, its not the nut thats spinning, its the whole track rod end bearing spinning

as said, force the track rod down as hard as you can whilst turning the nut as fast as you can in short bursts if you dont have an air gun.

also wd40 and wire brush the threads

ALL of that's been said already.

I heated it up slightly and applied pressure and came off eventually.

May sound abit pikey.. but I've used a scissor-jack to hold it down.

Now I clamp it - so either way its hands free / do-able with 1 person.. instead of trying to apply pressure on a bar and undoing the nut.

Thanks everyone for the reply's, got the off and the springs on. Only went down 15-20mm tho so I'm guessing they just need to bed in...

just from my experience i usually use a ball joint seperator to clamp the track rod end to the strut, same sort of method as the mole grips
