    well i took my centre console out for painting and because i have ocd decided to clean up the vents and stuff. whilst doing so i noticed that behind the dash is a second ignition barrel with a key in it that looks like it bodeged into the main wiring??

    if i take the key out the car wont start like its an immobaliser but i cant understand why its hidden behind the dash ??

    any ideas and can i remove it

    You may be able to just swap it with the one is the correct place, cant see why it would have a second one unless the barrel is fucked but instead of unlocking the ecu left the old one in to disable the imobiliser then put a barrel that works in its place, stupid really

    This is what they have done you see it a lot in VW's because the lock set costs so much.

    Leave it as it its mate or just unlock your ECU then you can remove it and just have the barrel in the steering column. But why "fix" something when it works fine any ways. I personally would just leave it as long as all the wiring looks neat and tidy.
