Ok so I took my car to a garage and they replaced my driveshaft. Then a few days later noticed a patch of oil on the floor. It looked like it was coming from the gearbox( driveshaft area). So I took it back and then they said I need both the seals changed. So I said ok And they have changed both seals. This was a couple of weeks back. Anyway I haven't used my car much the last few weeks. I've been out today and there is a fresh patch of oil and this time it looks worse. I've rang and bin to the garage and u can see it slowing dripping from the bottom of the gearbox. Where do I stand as in the garage sorting this out for free etc. They just said bring it back monday and we'll have a look. Can someone shead some light on what Might have caused the oil leak and where do I stand with the garage. Thanks
need help and advise people..update

#2They might not have fitted the seals properly or damaged/disturbed them when fitting the driveshaft.Ask them if they fitted new seals?Personally i`d say I wasn`t happy & expect them to rectify the fault at no cost.1 user thanked this post:

#3yes they fitted 2 new seals.I've said i'm not happy so will see what they say monday. So i've got the right for them to replace them free of charge as like u said they might have not fitted them properly.

#4Depends mate. Personally a garage shouldn't miss another oil leak and if they did you've essentially been scammed two seals and fitting charge if it is xoming from somewhere else!
Kick up a fuss!!!1 user thanked this post: -

#7ok so i took it back the garage and they did change the o/s driveshaft seal free of charge. So today i've just been out to have a look and guess what it's still leaking. I've just rang them and there reply was it needs a new shaft. Wouldthis cause the leak as they said there was pitting on the end of the shaft and rust. Now I have seen this as they didn't show it me. Also if that was the cause should'nt they have said this b4 they fitted the new seal. Where do I stand now.

#8I`d give trading standards a ring before going back to the garage,a 2nd thought I wonder if they`re using the correct seals?

#10update at the weekend myself and my brother fitted a new driveshaft and seal as I wasn't taking it back to that garage. Anyway when my brother took the shaft out I had a look at the seal. Guess what the idiot machanic who fitted the seal only had put it in the wrong way with the plastic protector facing inwards. So all fixed now with a new seal happy days.
I rang the garage and complained big time. How can u fit a seal the wrong way round not once he did it but twice. What a idiot they gave me a refund after I showed them the pictures and made a big point about it.1 user thanked this post:
